HOW TO FLOAT THE NEUTRAL TO GFCI BREAKER - IPRO2500
There will be some usage scenarios that will require you to float the neutral on the iPro2500. For instance paralleling a iPro2500 with another Westinghouse inverter which require both inverters to be floating neutral. In order for GFCI’s to work properly there can only be one ground reference in the system. Paralleling two GFCI inverters creates two ground references. The below steps will create a single ground reference.
NOTE: ONCE YOU FLOAT THE NEUTRAL ON THE GFCI THE IPRO2500 IS NO LONGER OHSA OR CSA COMPLIANT.
1. Remove the 4 screws located in each corner of the control panel. Then remove the screw in the center of the engine control switch.
2. Locate the back of the GFCI outlet. You will find a wire from the white conductor attached to the green/yellow ground wire secured to the stud of the receptacle ground. You will need to cut this wire between the two terminals to float the neutral. See picture below for correct location.
NOTE: You will need to insulate the end of the white wire with electrical tape or wire nut to prevent any incidental contact with other conductors.
WARNING: THIS CHANGE IS IRREVERSIBLE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BOND THE NEUTRAL AFTER COMPLETING THIS STEP.
